Located on Post Street, from River Park Square at Main to the Davenport Hotel on First Avenue in the heart of downtown, Merry & Magical Lane is the Spokane region’s newest holiday destination for visitors from near and far. The first of its kind project for downtown Spokane adds new overhead lighting, crisscrossing Post Street and the neighboring alley alongside new decorative lighting spanning 80 trees along Post Street, Main, and Riverside Avenues. Merry & Magical Lane also features new LED lighting inside the skywalk above Post Street as well as sidewalk planters filled with holiday trees and seasonal décor, festive street poles, and windows along Post painted by local artists. A free celebration under the new lights in time for River Park Square’s arrival of Santa and tree lighting on November 23 will kick off the holiday season with the Riverfront Park holiday tree lighting, Horse & Carriage rides sponsored by Wheatland Bank and the annual display of beautifully decorated trees for Christmas Tree Elegance between the Davenport Hotel and River Park Square. It’s not just Post Street lighting the way for holiday cheer this season. The nearby Riverfront Park Pavilion Light Show launches every weekend from 7:00-10:00 pm and the Downtown Spokane Partnership will also continue the tradition of illuminating Wall Street from Spokane Falls Boulevard to Riverside Avenue with candy cane lights and wreaths on street poles and new holiday-themed photo (selfie) sidewalk stations. LED snowflakes will also return to adorn street poles along Riverside Avenue and the lights inside eight skywalks across downtown to inspire shoppers and visitors across downtown all season long.
